oi-websolution's web accessibility policy

Summary:
We are committed to making accessible for all users the information and resources that are available via our website and those websites that we commission.

Background:
The Disability Discrimination Act (1995) legislates that it is an offence to discriminate against a disabled person by treating him or her less favourably than others for a reason relating to their disability. For clarity we define a disabled person as someone who has a visual, auditory, motor or cognitive impairment, which has an effect on his or her ability to carry out normal viewing of a web page.

Discrimination may be said to occur where a company fails to make a 'reasonable adjustment' for the disabled, or where the disabled person is placed at a 'substantial disadvantage' in comparison with someone who is not disabled - and such failure cannot be 'justified'.

We favour the principles of accessibility and usability in web page design. This will be of benefit to us and to all users. We believe we have taken reasonable steps to ensure information and resources are accessible to all, (includine the use of assistive technologies), for everyone to have a satisfactory experience in using our web pages and those we commission.

Policy statement:
We will follow PAS 78* guidelines when commissioning our own websites. We will include PAS 78* in all commissions we issue to our partners where they are asked to develop websites on our behalf. All web pages will be assessed by guidelines published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), available at http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/. We require that all web pages should be written to at least Priority level 2 Double A and make a reasonable attempt at Priority Level 3 Triple A as desirable, within budgetary and time constraints.

WAI Testing:
This website has been tested against the automated validation tool Watchfire WebXACT (http://webxact.watchfire.com) previously known as "Bobby". Each web page has been tested for quality, accessibility and privacy issues through the automated vaildation process and also through manual examination of the website where human interpretation is required.

In our opinion and from the technical assessments we have carried out, this site conforms to a minimum of WAI Priority Level 2 Double A and, pending User testing, we fully expect this website will be judged Priority Level 3, Triple A.

Feed-back from web page Visitors:
Should you have difficulty accessing information on any of our web pages or on those that we commission, then please contact us. We will nee to know the system you are trying to use giving the URLs of the pages concerned and outlining the problem you found. We will endeavour to supply the information to you in another form and arrange for corrective action. Your feed back is valued and welcomed.

Review:
This statement may be reviewed from time-to-time, or when local or national policies or the WAI guidelines are revised.
